A Happy & Practical Halloween

October 24, 2012

I love pieces that can be styled multiple ways, not only does it save you money but it keeps your closet under control (a big challenge in my life). So this year when considering your Halloween costume options why not pick a look with pieces that you can easily work into your day to day wardrobe and wear over and over again.

This “cheetah girl” outfit is a great example of a costume with pieces you could wear again. This faux cheetah jacket would be easy to work into your day to day wardrobe, with jeans or spice up a classic LBD. The leopard print leotard adds a sassy note to any look and is a perfect layering piece. This whole look is only $30, less than you’d pay for the jacket alone!

I really love this costume. I haven’t seen a lot of owl costumes in my day so not only do I like the originality but it includes one of my favorite printed tanks.  While I’m usually anti animal hats this owl cap is surprisingly unoffensive and perfect when worn with these oversized shades. Both the print tank and simple black skirt can easily be worn again with a variety of pieces in your existing wardrobe.

What’s not to love?! This Madeline costume is made up of an adorable vintage dress and hat (I would love to get my hands on both). Both pieces are easy to wear again, on trend, and bring one of my favorite literary characters to life, all for only $36.

Believe it or not, this “angel of mine” costume is made up of a lot of practical pieces, including lace tights which are great layered over colored tights or under summery dresses. The slip is also a very practical wardrobe item, perfect to wear under dresses, skirts and sheer blouses alike. And once Halloween is over turn your wings into wall art by dip dyeing or bedazzeling them.

This “south of the boarder” costume is the perfect excuse to indulge in a great pair of cutoffs and cowboy boots (you can never have too many of either). This vibrant poncho would be a fun fall layering piece over a maxi dress or with a cute, peter pan collar blouse peeking out from underneath it.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to add another floral print babydoll dress to your wardrobe (who isn’t) this wood nymph costume is the perfect excuse. This dress will be easy to wear again and is the perfect sweet but sassy Halloween look at only $38.

Not looking for a complete costume? This Halloween stock up on more than just candy. With prices ranging from $3 to $10 it’s the perfect time to indulge in animal print accessories, fun hats, and costume jewelry.
